The method involves transmitting adjusted speed of a motor vehicle (10) to a regulating unit (3) of a control device (2) and sensing a driving state variable. The regulating unit is cooperated with a drive strand of the motor vehicle. The driving state variable is overwritten for the prevention of misuse detection by the control device. An independent claim is also included for a system for regulating speed of a motor vehicle, particularly during a test drive on a testing track.
