An automatic control system for controlling a variable such as temperature, pressure, flow or level comprises an indicator controller 1 having a scale movable relatively to a datum mark for setting the desired value of the variable - say temperature - and a pointer for indicating the actual value of the temperature, the scale being settable by a control knob which simultaneously adjusts a potentiometer 12 in a bridge circuit 6 which circuit also includes a sensor 2 responsive to the temperature being controlled, deviation of the actual temperature from the set temperature causing the bridge to produce an output which is fed to a transistor amplifier 24 which feeds a coil 25 in the indicator controller 1 so as to indicate the actual temperature, a further output 26 of a two state type feeding a switching relay 27 which controls the medium causing the heating or cooling of device of which the temperature is being controlled.</p> |
