The engine has an intake valve and an exhaust valve, where the valves have a valve seat ring (10) that is taken up into a recess of a cylinder head. The ring has a mounting element (13) guided into a respective recess over a press fit that is provided between a radially outer surface (21) of the element and a radially inner surface of the head, which limits the recess to retain the ring. A notch-like groove (23) is brought into the radially outer surface and the radially inner surface. The groove is circulated along circumferential direction, and has semi-circle like outlined cross section.
