Disclosed is an organic photoelectric conversion element equipped with a pair of electrodes and an active layer that comprises an organic compound and is positioned between the aforementioned pair of electrodes, wherein the organic photoelectric conversion element has excellent photoelectric conversion efficiency, and the respective amounts of inorganic phosphorus, palladium, aluminum, iron, calcium, potassium, and sodium compounds comprised in the aforementioned active layer are no more than 30 ppm by weight.
