A camera support for cinematography equipment has a perimeter frame with an open central area and is adapted to mount to a secondary support. Track rails extend along the side beams of the frame and mount a camera trolley plate on rollers for sliding movement along the perimeter frame. The camera may be mounted above or below the trolley plate. A magnetic friction device provides controlled resistance to translation. Shock absorbers provide controlled deceleration toward adjustable stops, and repelling magnets on the shock absorbers and stops provide additional controlled deceleration.
