The method involves interrupting or setting power supply of an ignition coil (4), which supplies an ignition plug (5) with ignition voltage. A testing is made to determine whether output change is resulted and/or running performance and/or speed of an internal combustion engine is changed by the interruption of the power supply based on output measurement (7) and/or speed measurement (8) and/or balance measurement (9) of the engine. The power supply is restored after the testing. The interruption of the power supply, the testing and the restoration of the power supply are repeated.
