Disclosed is a method for detecting a target nucleic acid, which enables the efficient construction of a detection system for a target nucleic acid. For achieving the method, a first primer (30) and a second primer (40) are prepared. The first primer (30) comprises: a sequence (32) for recognition purposes which is complementary to a target sequence (12) contained in a target nucleic acid; and a sequence (36) for tagging purposes. The second primer (40) comprises a label (42). Chimeric DNA (60) that comprises a tag sequence (66) and the label (42) is amplified against a target nucleic acid (10) contained in a sample using the first primer (30) and the second primer (40). The chimeric DNA (60) is hybridized with a detection probe (104) attached on a solid support (100) to acquire signal intensity information on the basis of the label (42). The target nucleic acid (10) is detected based on the signal intensity information.
