In a method of making oil pockets 11 in bearing surfaces, a perforated mask 14 is placed on a surface and material is removed from the parts of the surface exposed by the perforations by blasting with steel grain, quartz sand or other abrasive particles. The edges 18 of the perforations are undercut so as to blend the edges of the pockets into the bearing surface. After the pockets have been formed, the mask is removed from the surface. |
