Disclosed are: a fluorinated compound having an RF group carrying 6 or less carbon atoms, which enables the production of a fluorinated polymer having high durability and a water-repellent/oil-repellent function and has less environmental impact; and a fluorinated polymer which is produced by the polymerization of the fluorinated compound, has high durability and a water-repellent/oil-repellent function, and has less environmental impact. Specifically disclosed are: a fluorinated compound represented by formula (I); and a polymer of the fluorinated compound. CH2=C(M)COO(CH2)nPhXPhZCrF2r+1... (I) (In formula (I), M represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, or a halogen atom; n represents an integer of 0 to 2; Ph represents a phenylene group; X represents CH2O or OCH2; Z represents a single bond, a C1-4 alkylene group containing an etheric oxygen atom, or COO(CH2)m (wherein m represents an integer of 1 to 4); and r represents an integer of 1 to 6.)
