The method involves receiving a radio signal (1), and scanning the radio signal to form a sequence of samples. An initial list of possible starting indices for samples of a sub-frame (3) and another list of sub-frame numbers (6) for the sub-frame are determined. Detection values for time slots (4, 5, 7, 8) is calculated for a given characteristic carrier frequency allocation for the time slots for a hypothesis comprising the starting indices and the sub-frame number. An inspection is made that whether an assessment value calculated from the detection values exceeds a threshold.
