The separator (1) has a waste water inlet (10) for guiding waste water from fiber, filling material and fluid to a sieve unit (8) i.e. barrel, of a sieve (9). A fiber outlet (12) discharges fiber-loaded fluid (11) from the sieve unit. Fluid inlets (14-16) are provided for mixing clear fluid in the sieve unit. A drive (26) is connected with the sieve unit for moving the sieve unit in a wash tub (5). The sieve is partially arranged below a wash tub filling level, and discharges filling material-loadable fluid exclusively into the wash tub through the sieve unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for separating fiber and filling material from sewage water during paper manufacturing.
