In order to prevent false detection of the opened/closed state of the disclosed portable terminal, the portable terminal, which is provided with a first casing, a second casing, and a connector that rotatably connects the aforementioned first casing and the aforementioned second casing, is characterized by: a magnet being provided within a convex section formed on the aforementioned connector; a concave section being formed on the aforementioned second casing at a position corresponding to the aforementioned connector while in a closed state that overlaps the aforementioned first casing; a magnetism-detecting element, which detects the open state of the aforementioned portable terminal by detecting a change in magnetism of the aforementioned magnet, being provided to the back surface of the aforementioned concave section; and the aforementioned convex section and the aforementioned concave section engaging, and the aforementioned magnet and the aforementioned magnetism-detecting element having positions that overlap each other in the direction of the thickness of the casing when the aforementioned first casing and the aforementioned second casing are in the overlapping closed state. |
