PURPOSE: An image forming apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to reduce the generation of a color registration error. CONSTITUTION: A transfer unit transfers a pattern for detecting a color registration error to a transfer belt(122). A pattern sensing unit(180) senses the pattern for detecting a color registration error. A control unit(160) checks the gap variation of the pattern for detecting a color registration error by detecting the color registration error pattern. The control unit varies the speed of a motor for reducing the periodical speed variation of a photosensitive drum. |
