The invention relates to a protective device used in combination with guardrails to close the spaces normally existing between the guardrails and the surface of the ground, while at the same time concealing and safeguarding the vertical posts supporting them. The protector consists of a substantially plantar longitudinal strip, of flexible and relatively elastic material, molded from waste tire material with the upper edge rectilinear and the lower edge provided with projecting portions for being supported on the ground, in the front face of which it has longitudinal recesses housing metal reinforcements, and furthermore having holes close to both ends for the fixing thereof to the posts by means of omega-shaped clamps.
