[Also in Division B7] A wheel element includes a hollow conical hub 11 adapted in use to receive a shaft 2, the hub being longitudinally slotted into a number of segments and threaded externally, the wheel element being provided with a nut element 6 having a mating internally threaded conical surface, which nut element is adapted to screw over the hub and force its segments radially inward into engagement with the shaft, the wheel also having a crown of gear teeth 5 arranged on one side thereof within an annular trough 4, so that the teeth are enclosed within the general outline of the wheel. The wheel may have a radially projecting flange 10 at one side, the crown 5 being provided on that side of the wheel adjacent the flange The gear teeth 8 may be tapered towards the rotation axis of the wheel so that the gaps 9 between their roots are of substantially constant width. The nut element 6 may. be provided with a circumferential ring of teeth 7 serving both to interact with suitably positioned gear wheels and provide grip for the manual tightening of the nut. |
