PURPOSE: An anti-viral composition containing Zanthoxylum extract is provided to prevent or treat influenza virus. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating influenza virus contains Zanthoxylum extract as an active ingredient. The Zanthoxylum extract is isolated by steam extraction, hot water extraction, sonication, organic solvent extraction, or reflux. The Zanthoxylum extract is an extract of Zanthoxylum schinifolium or Zanthoxylum piperitum.
