The invention relates to a method for quantitatively indentifying a chemical substance S from a sample using a mass spectrometer having at least one detector. According to the invention, a sample that can comprise the substance S of interest, or a conversion product of the sample, can be analyzed in the mass spectrometer. The mass spectrometer is alternatingly adjusted to at least masses SM1, SM2 for the analysis, so that each of the masses is detected multiple times and all named masses are detected by the same detector. The masses SM1 and SM2 are fictitious masses adjacent to a mass CM of the substance S having a particular isotope content. The amount of the mass CM is determined by computation from the measured values for the masses SM1, SM2. |
