PURPOSE: An external use skin formulation for preventing erythema due to UV ray and for skin whitening is provided. CONSTITUTION: An external use formulation for skin whitening contains hydrolysate of olive leave extract and ascorbic acid 2-glucoside. An external use skin formulation for preventing erythema due to UV exposure contains the hydrolysate and ascorbic acid 2-glucoside. A method for preparing the hydrolysate comprises: a step of extracting olive leaves or dried olive leaves by a solvent; a step of adding acid and hydrolyzing; and a step of neutralizing with an alkali. The external use formulation is manufactured in the form of whitening cream, lotion, pack, and foundation.
