A vehicle control apparatus includes state detection means (24, 25, 32) which detects the state of an electric pump (EP). If, based upon the detection results from the state detection means (24, 25, 32), determination has been made during the operation of the electric pump (EP) that a predetermined protection condition, which defines a factor that affects the durability of the electric pump (EP), is satisfied, the rotational speed of a mechanical pump (MP) is increased to an operation threshold or more, following which the operation of the electric pump (EP) is stopped. |
