<p>An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member; a developing device including a developer container, a developer carrying member, and a contact portion which is contactable to the image bearing member; and a movable member for rotationally moving the developing device mounted therein toward a position in which the developing devices opposes the image bearing member. The movable member includes a rotation shaft member, first and second members which are engaged with the rotation shaft member with play at respective end portions of the rotation shaft member, first and second guide portions which are provided in the first and second members and with which first and second portions to be guided which are provided at respective ends of the developing device are engageable with play. The apparatus further includes first and second swingable supporting members for rotatably supporting the movable member at the respective end portions of the rotation shaft member in the movable member and for swingably supporting the movable member relative to a main assembly of the image forming apparatus; an urging portion for urging the movable member toward the image bearing member; and first and second preventing members for preventing movement of the first and second members in the rotational axis direction.</p> |
