The object e.g. wrist watch (40), has a control unit for controlling switching of a transflective LCD device (1) between switching states. The LCD device has a positive display contrast based on value of a signal provided by a measuring unit (42) e.g. light sensor, measuring ambient luminosity degree when the display device is in one of the switching states. The control unit is activated by a user. An optical valve has two electrodes that are fixed respectively at a rear face of a front substrate and a front face of a rear substrate.
