The device has a housing (1) in which a fat filter (2), an odor filter (3) and a blower (4) are arranged. The housing is attached at ceiling in a height-adjustable manner by a suspension unit (5). The suspension unit has a traction element (50) comprising ends attached to a drive shaft of a drive (51), where the traction element is partially wound on the drive shaft. The suspension unit has a deflection unit by which the traction element is guided. The drive has a motor coupled with the drive shaft for driving the drive shaft.
