The device (1) has an inflatable protection cushion (10) interiorly divided by a sealed separation wall (12) into two independent inflatable chambers (14, 16). The chambers are respectively connected to inflating units (30, 40) e.g. compressed air network and pressurized gas generator. The wall presents rupture resistance greater than the pressure exerted by gas propelled through one of the inflating units and less than the pressure exerted by the gas propelled through another inflating unit. The wall is made of a material same as that of the cushion.
