The commercial technological process of production of sodium benzoate is carried out under 10 to 20 % excess of the first component - sodium hydroxide - by which too much reactant is added unnecessarily (disadvantage of the process). Optimum dosing of both reactants should be determined. It is known that the ratio of reactants exerts a strong influence on the speed of reaction or productivity. Greater quantities of sodium benzoate can be obtained in the commercial production process of sodium benzoate, when the reactants - sodium hydroxide and benzoic acid - are dosed at the same flow rate (100 moles : 100 moles in batch mode of operation or 100 mol/h : 100 mol/h in continuous mode of operation) without any excess of individual components, increasing thus the productivity of sodium benzoate for 2 % at in any case known commercial conditions already (pressure and temperature having been determined already) and so improving the technological process and achieving savings on the reactant in addition.
|
