Self-retracting lifeline using a tooth and pawl interaction on two centrifugal clutch assemblies to stop lifelines

A self-retracting lifeline is disclosed. A common, central brake hub (531) has teeth (534) on opposing sides and a lifeline assembly (514, 516) on each side. The lifeline assemblies include centrifugal clutch assemblies with pawls (538). Under sudden acceleration or a high rate of speed the pawls pivot against the action of a bias to engage the teeth of the brake hub and stop the lifeline assemblies. The lifeline assemblies operate independently of each other and will retract the lifeline if not under tension. The lifeline would be connected to a safety harness in normal use.
