A toothed belt connector (10) for connecting two ends (14, 16) of a belt segment (12) is disclosed. The connector (10) has two leaves (20, 22) that are adapted to be connected to each other by knuckles (28, 30) along one or more teeth (39). Each knuckle (28, 30) has at least one hole (42) extending through tooth portions so that when the holes (42) are in registry, a pin (32) can be extended through the holes (42) to connect the leaves (20, 22) at the teeth (39). The leaves (20, 22) can be adjoined to the ends (14, 16) of a belt (12) to make the belt (12) endless. The tip end of each knuckle (28, 30) can be beveled or it can have a stepped finger that fits into a cut-out on the opposite leaf to keep the end of the knuckle (28, 30) from protruding as the belt (12) wraps around a sprocket. |
