A wood splitter including a support structure (12) integrated into a trailer. The splitter component (18) is actuated by a hydraulic cylinder (22) which is fixed at the upper end to the structure (12) and which has a lower ram end connected to the splitter component by an extension arm (28) which extends upward from the lower ram end to the splitter component so that the splitter is mounted in a raised position relative to the ram end. In response to the operation of the hydraulic cylinder the splitter moves in a path parallel to the path traced by the lower ram end. Activation of the splitter requires both hands of the operator to effect due to separate placement of hand controls requiring simultaneous activation.
