PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound exhibiting an action of promoting the production of low molecular weight EPO (erythropoietin). SOLUTION: There are disclosed a diphenylpyrimidine compound represented by formula (1) [in the formula, R1represents a hydrogen atom or an amino group; and R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7each may be the same or different and represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a 1-6C alkoxy group, a 1-6C haloalkyl group, or a carboxyl group], a promoter of EPO production comprising the same as its effective component, and a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for anaemia.
