<p>Disclosed is a vehicle body structure that enables an improved performance with respect to collisions. A sub-side member (3) has a cooperative deformation section (7) which is located to the front of a power unit (EG) and which has a lower strength than the suppressed deformation section (8) located to the rear. When a load is applied, deformation will occur more easily at a location on the sub-side member (3) in front of the power unit (EG). The region of the sub-side member (3) to the front of the power unit (EG), said power unit (EG) having relatively few highly rigid components, can deform synchronously with the deformation of a front-side member (2). Therefore, the sub-side member (3) can absorb the load effectively in cooperation with the front side member (2). Furthermore, the portion of the sub-side member (3) to the rear of the cooperative deformation section (7) is configured with a higher strength than the cooperative deformation section (7). Therefore, the sub-side member (3) amply transmits the load to a skeletal structure to the rear. As a result, the load is distributed between the front side member (2) and the sub-side member (3).</p> |
