PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous solution system secondary battery, having an anode active material which is actuated by an aqueous electrolyte solution containing sodium. SOLUTION: The aqueous solution system secondary battery 10 is provided with a cathode, containing a cathode active material 12 which stores and discharges sodium, an anode containing a composite compound containing titanium and phosphorus as an anode active material 17; and an electrolyte solution 20 which is interposed between the cathode and the anode and is an aqueous solution with sodium dissolved therein. The anode active material 17 is a composite compound (for example, LiTi<SB>2</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>3</SB>or NaTi<SB>2</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>3</SB>) containing titanium and phosphorus, and the electrolyte solution 20 is an aqueous solution with sodium is dissolved therein.
