PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide proper behavior of the same transfer support device even for several different holding devices. SOLUTION: The transfer support device 100 transfers a care receiver P as he is held by the holding device. The transfer support apparatus includes: a holding device connection unit to which different types of holding devices 27 can be attached; a detector 31 which detects the type of the holding device 27 which is connected with the connection unit; a memory 32 which stores a plurality of control programs corresponding to the different types of holding devices 27; and an operation unit 33 which selects a control program from the plurality of control programs stored in the memory 32 corresponding to the holding device 27 attached to the holding device connection unit in accordance with the type of the holding device 27 detected by the detector 31 and controls the motion of the transfer support device 100 based on the control program.
