PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally assisted magnetic head which improves an efficiency in the use of light, and is produced by a comparatively simple production process. SOLUTION: The thermally assisted magnetic head is provided with: a first condensing part 30 which is provided on a side face 3 orthogonal to the surface 2 facing a medium of a slider board 1 and condenses light in a direction orthogonal to the side face 3; and a second light condensing part 40 which is provided with an incidence part near the place of condensing by the first condensing part 30 and condenses light in a direction parallel to the side face 3. Then, the first condensing part 30 and the second light condensing part 40 condense the light on a light irradiation element 20 disposed on the side of the surface 2 facing a medium. By two-step condensing, a coupling efficiency is improved, and the structure is produced by using the production process of the thermally assisted magnetic head element 50.
