<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary shaft and a method for producing the same which allow a bearing member to be firmly fixed to the rotary shaft without occurrence of distortion on the bearing members, and eliminate the need for high precision control of machining equipment. <P>SOLUTION: An annular groove 24b formed on an armature shaft 24 is caused to support a C-shaped snap ring 27 which restricts a ball bearing 40 from moving to one axial side. A washer 28 which restricts the ball bearing 40 from moving to other axial side is mounted. A movement restricting projection 24c diametrically outwardly swollen by plastically deforming the armature shaft 24 is provided on the armature shaft 24 to the other axial side beyond the washer 28.
