<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ribbon end detecting device in a printer, which simplifies detection of an end of a ribbon such as thermal transfer ribbon 2, and simplifies a constitution of a plate 27 to be detected for ribbon end detection, and a ribbon end detecting method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The ribbon end detecting device is taken into consideration that: a plate 27 to be detected is attached to a ribbon supply shaft 3 of a ribbon 2 and its posture is detected as the ribbon 2 is fed to a paper sheet printing part. The ribbon end detecting device includes in a shaft end of the ribbon supply shaft 3 having the roll ribbon 2 mounted thereabout: the plate 27 movable integrally with the ribbon supply shaft 3; a spring 28 for energizing the plate 27 in a constant direction around the ribbon supply shaft 3; a sensor 29 for detecting the posture of the plate 27; and a controller 14 for detecting the presence or the absence of end of the ribbon 2 by detecting the posture of the detecting plate 27 with the sensor 29 in the state of a printer power source being turned on. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
