<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology to detect early an obstacle even if the obstacle is only partly illuminated by a lamp. <P>SOLUTION: Even if the obstacle is only partly illuminated by a headlight and only a part of the obstacle is recognized by a recognizing means 5a as a brilliant part of a pickup image, normalization based on the determination result by a determining means 5b is performed within a predetermined range above or below the brilliant part, and thereby, the rest part of the obstacle appears within the predetermined range which is applied with normalization. Thus, by the pattern recognition of the pickup image applied with normalization so as to increase brightness gradation within the predetermined range, the obstacle can be detected early even if only partly illuminated by the headlight since the obstacle is detected by a detecting means 5d though the obstacle is only partially irradiated by the headlight. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
