Disclosed is a therapy method which enables the satisfactory development of the effect of an intraperitoneally administered anti-cancer agent, enables the long-term accumulation of the anti-cancer agent in the abdominal cavity for the purpose of reducing adverse side-effects of the anti-cancer agent, and utilizes a water-soluble high-molecular-weight block polymer. Specifically disclosed is a cancer therapeutic agent comprising a micelle preparation, wherein the micelle preparation is composed of a copolymer having a hydrophilic polymeric structure moiety and a polycarboxylic acid derivative moiety, is bound to an anti-cancer agent or has an anti-cancer agent encapsulated therein, can exhibit drug sustained release capability, and is effective for achieving the extension of the accumulation period of a drug in the abdominal cavity. The cancer therapeutic agent is characterized by being administered in an intraperitoneal pathway. It is found that the use of the cancer therapeutic agent can achieve a superior life-prolonging effect in an intraperitoneal administration mouse model compared with a case where only a drug that is encapsulated in the cancer therapeutic agent is administered.
