The invention relates to a device for stiffening an extensive, thin workpiece having low inherent stiffness, comprising a clamping plate, which has at least the three following layers: a contact layer, which has a contact surface that can be placed against the workpiece, an opposite bendable rear layer, and a lightweight intermediate layer arranged between the contact layer (3) and the rear layer, and a plurality of air channels, which each extend through the contact layer and into the intermediate layer, and comprising at least one retaining means designed as a suction apparatus for fixing the clamping plate on the workpiece, wherein a suction connection is provided, which can be connected to a vacuum pump in such a way that a so-called retaining area lying against the workpiece can be evacuated starting from the suction connection and through the air channels, wherein the retaining area is delimited by a seal, which surrounds the retaining area so as to limit the extent of the vacuum and extends at least to the contact surface so that the seal can be placed against the workpiece. |
