The invention relates to an electroluminescent lamp, comprising an EL-film laminated between a first and a second translucent or transparent plastic plate. The contact surfaces and spring contacts are inside the region of the plastic plate and not, as in the prior art, on the outside thereof. This provides for greater design freedom and an advantageous appearance for electroluminescent lamps designed as design or utility objects. The contact means, for example a plug connector, is not connected from the side with the contacts, but is placed from above onto the area. The contact surfaces are exposed in the recess and can be electrically conductively connected from above to the spring contacts designed resiliently perpendicular to the plastic plate.
