The laser system (100) has a laser beam generator (110), a coupling device feeding the laser beam to a light conductor (120) and a laser beam extraction device at the opposite end of the light conductor. A data transmitter is associated with the coupling device or the extraction device for supplying an optical data signal to the light conductor for reception by a data receiver associated with the extraction device or the coupling device.
