PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film for protecting polarizing plate, which prevents optical interference color from being generated when disposed in a crossed-Nicols state as a polarizing plate and observed, and has excellent UV absorption characteristics and light transmittance and the like. SOLUTION: The polyester film for protecting polarizing plate has 20 to 80 μm film thickness, and satisfies formula: 0≤1,000A+0.7B≤100, wherein film in-plane refractive index difference and an inclination of a main alignment axis to a film longitudinal direction are defined as A and B, respectively.
