<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorine-containing ethylene oxide copolymer which has an effect of inhibiting adhesion of a biotissue or a cell and an effect of inhibiting adhesion of a protein on a base material containing silica used particularly in a membrane, a filter, or the like, and has a biocompatibility, in medical and biomedical materials. <P>SOLUTION: The fluorine-containing ethylene oxide copolymer is an ethylene oxide copolymer having 0.1-50 mol% of a structural unit represented by formula (I) and 50-99.9 mol% of a structural unit represented by formula (II), in which a weight average molecular weight based on polyethylene oxide is 1,000 to 400,000.
