PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt member driving device that prevents a damage to a belt member caused by a contact between a positioning member and a projected line, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The belt member driving device includes: a driving part which circulates the belt member having a tube-like and belt-like body stretched on a plurality of cylindrical rotating bodies and a projected line provided on the inner circumferential surface of the body and extending along the edge of the body; a positioning member which is provided at the end of one of the plurality of cylindrical rotating bodies, coaxially with the cylindrical rotating body, and comes into contact with the projected line of the rotating belt member, to determine the position of the belt member in the width direction in the circulation; a measuring part which measures the position of the track of the belt member; and a lubricant supply part which supplies a lubricant for improving slip between the projected line and the positioning member, according to a difference between the position measured by the measuring part and a reference position.
