PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a heterocyclic compound by which the compound can readily be produced in good productivity in high yield by a small number of steps. SOLUTION: The method for producing the heterocyclic compound includes reacting an acid halide represented by formula (1): R<SP>1</SP>-COX, with at least one of a nitrogen-containing compound represented by formula (2): R<SP>2</SP>-NH-N(-R<SP>3</SP>)-C(=Y)-NH-R<SP>4</SP>and a salt thereof.
