PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a sheet carrying device capable of improving productivity, by shortening a switching time of pullout operation from separation operation, with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: A pullout roller 12 is put in a stopping state by turning off an electromagnetic clutch 40 in the separation operation. A paper feeding belt 9 operates, and butts a document P against the pullout roller 12 by separating one by one. The pullout roller 12 operates when turning on the electromagnetic clutch 40, and carries the document P to the downstream side. At this time, the paper feeding belt 9 co-rotates by a sheet by the action of a one-way clutch 43, and the document P is extracted from a separation part by carrying of the pullout roller 12.
