<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having a substantially O-shaped gantry ring including an X-ray source and a detector, in which the gantry ring can be fixed and connected to a support body or can be connected to a support structure through a ring-positioning unit which can move a gantry in parallel or incline it relative to the support body on one or a plurality of axes. <P>SOLUTION: The X-ray scanning imaging apparatus has the substantially O-shaped gantry ring 11 which is rotatably fixed. One end of the gantry ring is connected to the support structure such as a moving carriage 12, a ceiling, a floor surface, a wall surface or a patient-support table in a cantilever form.
