PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device capable of dividing and transmitting e-mail by a proper method when transmitting image data by e-mail. SOLUTION: In order to transmit read image data of an i-th page by e-mail, known BASE 64 conversion is performed (S10), and then it is determined whether a size of the e-mail exceeds a maximum transmission size (S11). If the size of the e-mail exceeds the maximum transmission size, it is determined whether the e-mail should be divided by page (S19). If it is determined that the e-mail should be divided by page, partial data is generated (S20) and is transmitted. Meanwhile, if it is determined that the e-mail should not be divided by page, divide data is generated (S23) and is transmitted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
