<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a specified compound having a double bond. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing formula (III): R<SP>3</SP>-CH=CH<SB>2</SB>comprises the following steps: step (A): a step of obtaining a reaction solution by reacting compounds represented by formula (I): R<SP>1</SP>-CO-CH<SB>3</SB>and/or formula (II): R<SP>2</SP>-CHOH-CH<SB>3</SB>with hydrogen, step (B): a step of obtaining a hydrogenation catalyst-devoid solution by removing the hydrogenation catalyst, and step (C): a step of obtaining a compound having a double bond, represented by formula (III) in the presence of a dehydrogenation catalyst. In formula (I), R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrocarbon group. In formula (II), R<SP>2</SP>is an aromatic ring-containing hydrocarbon group.
