PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator restraining power consumption while maintaining the defrosting quality of a cooler, and furthermore improving the quality maintenance of food. SOLUTION: The refrigerator includes: a drain pan 33 provided below the cooler 24 to receive drain water dripping from the cooler; a radiant heater 15 arranged between the cooler 24 and the drain pan 33; a pipe heater 41 arranged in thermal contact with the cooler 24; and a control means 52 controlling energization of the radiant heater 15 and pipe heater 41. In a defrosting operation, the control means 52 sequentially carries out processings for: energizing an upper pipe heater 39 and a lower pipe heater 40, processing for energizing the radiant heater 15; stopping energization of the upper pipe heater 39; and stopping energization of the lower pipe heater 40 and radiant heater 15.
