Provided are an image processing device, image processing method, image processing program, and recording medium for transforming a target image which does not have an outline comprising straight line portions. An ellipse (E1) which approximates a target image to be processed is calculated (S20). A centre candidate (OA) of the target image is determined (S21). A first polygon (P1) associated with the ellipse and the centre candidate is calculated (S22). A projective transformation matrix is calculated, in which the first polygon is projectively transformed to a second polygon (P1') associated with the ellipse centred at the point where the centre candidate is projectively transformed (S23). The target image is projectively transformed in accordance with the projective transformation matrix in order to acquire a transformation image (S24).
