A chair configured in such a manner that an option member can be stably and easily mounted to the chair using a simple configuration, that the mounting position of the option member in the vertical direction can be easily adjusted, and that the appearance of the backrest after the option member is removed can be kept good. Grooves (19) which are oriented in the vertical direction and are recessed rearward and forward are provided in both the front and rear surfaces of each of both the left and right side sections of the backrest (6), and portions of mounting members (22) provided to both the side sections of a hanger (21), which is the option member, are engaged with the grooves (19) to mount the option member to the backrest (6).
